What is the PATH Adventure?
Each year 6500 Vermont School Employees participate in this health and wellness incentive adventure.
For 12 years VEHI (Vermont Education Health Initiative) has offered this adventure to help school district employees feel better, enjoy some laughter and develop new healthy behaviors over the trying Vermont Winter months. The Adventure is only for school staff, but we've seen some creative teachers design similar activities for their classrooms over the years. What better way to set an example!
Schools participate and register as a group. Each building has a volunteer coordinator to be our liaison. We thank them generously for all their efforts each year with a nice gift. These volunteers work hard to rally the masses, collect forms and money, and offer events to keep people motivated. They are great mentors in the crazy world of education. Coordinators who stay with us get nice 5- and 10-year gifts as well.
To play, school staff sign up with the coordinator in their building. They pay $10, get a gift and set off on a 10-week campaign to improve their health. They engage in healthy activities and in the end get put into a grand prize drawing for great trips and prizes. They also have a chance to win prizes along the way and are given lots of tips and strategies for making it through the adventure successfully.
